disclaimer; not unboxing pick, that’s wear but its not something I feel.
AIGHT REVIEW TIEMS
I’m not a professional artist but I do draw every day with a tablet, just call me a very passionate hobbyist !
I’v started out with Wacom’s Intuos 1 more than a decade ago and moved to Intuos 4 a few years back. So if you’re wanting to read a review by a Wacom user ,this is one.
call it a crazy experiment, but instead of spending money on a new sheet and nibs for my Wacom Intuos 4, I bought a new tablet. If your jaw didn’t just drop to floor then it should. I4 is a very nice piece of equipment but its costly to maintain (at least for me it seems, mebe I just draw weird)
I got myself a slightly smaller Huion H610 Pro.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a pro, a hobbyist or a student, we all need to cut corners these days,if you want to draw on your PC and you can’t afford to toss a few hundreds at a tablet,or you’re simply new to digital art, do yourself a favor, get this tablet instead of jumping on a Wacom.
The Huion performs wonderful in all aspects for its use.
Is there a difference ?
There is, slow lines seem to get a bit jittery in my inkt work. But honestly its still doable you just have to learn how to handle it.Or simply if you don’t draw slow like I do.
Unlike wacom were merely touching the sheet will get you a line, the Huion pen wants you to press, take note of lifting your hand and drawing with the wrist it will improve the line quality greatly.
the final verdict after a week of use
They are pretty alike however I feel like I have more direct control over my Wacom and this boils down to pressure sensitivity being slightly more accurate in a Wacom. I’v made some works to compare and I’ll admit I personally see a difference, but its so very minor. If you’re in the boat for digital drawing but you think Wacom is too expensive I really do advise a Huion.
For me however, this is not the replacement I was hoping for, I was hoping to be released of the monthly costs my Intuos gives me. the Huion comes uncanny close to Wacom quality, its not 100% there yet.still, I enjoy drawing on the Huion way more then on the Bamboo fun I got on impulse… It simply feels better than the Bamboo’s grainy surface and weird/awful design.
Final verdict; its great, its not ‘the second Wacom’ but its damn great ‘bang for buck’
things that are awesome
-all the buttons work out of the box and you can customize them, but I don’t really use them, sadly enough there is no 10/8 tablet without these.
-no fucking ‘touch’ type tech, seriously the more whistles and bells Wacom puts on a tablet the more it costs and idk bout you but I don’t want any of it.
-the sheet feels awesome and doesn’t wear near as fast as a Wacom
-the pen is light and to my great joy does not have an eraser button (useless to me)
-the pen has a very light ‘click’ when you put it down, so you actually know you’re clicking a thing
-it has the best design I’v ever seen for a non Wacom tablet, suck on that Genius. In fact, it looks better then my Bamboo Fun, and its more pleasant to draw on.
cons, drawing related
-I find it slightly harder to make slower lines without jittering.
-difference in pressure levels, making control over your strokes just a tad less than a Wacom.
herp derp thats about it, wish I could have them both installed I would sketch on the Huion and finish it off on the Intuos but the drivers don’t like each other.
non drawing related
-no option to ‘jump from screen to screen’ as the wacom has, the tablet will work on 1 screen at the time, or both. No choosing that I have found thusfar. Not really a big problem imo but just want to share.
-I have no idea about the estimated survival time of this tablet. But on the flip side if it dies in a year or 2 years Huion will hopefully have a newer one out with even better tech, so unlike a Wacom dieing after warranty its less of a worry imo.
-the tablet is so very light , I’m able to hear tech if I shake the tablet so perhaps Huion should consider filling this up.
-Amazon doesn’t send to my place :I
